This
company's vision was born out of the desire to put the word's
"quality, integrity, honesty and value" back into the
vocabulary of the automotive industry.
The wholesale Operation Division was established in August of
1993. Our first month's sales were $60,000 and today we
average over 1 million dollars per month. Our huge buying
power brings a better cost to our customers.
Our employees are trained to understand the urgency of delivering
the correct parts to our customers. This is the foundation
of our business principles and our mission.
It actually started in 1957 when J.G. Stelzenmuller, Jr. entered the automobile business as a sales representative for Rucker Oldsmobile. It continued in 1961 when Mr. Stelzenmuller resigned his position with Oldsmobile to accept a sales position with Miller Pontiac.
On a cold fall day in November 1983, Jay Stelzenmuller and his son Jay
Stelzenmuller, III met to discuss the then defunct Pontiac company. Both men were disheartened with the fate that had fallen upon the Pontiac brand; both
had known it when it was a winner, a dominant force in the marketplace. It was their vision to restore Pontiac as a marquee with to be reckoned with. Their goal was to again make the Pontiac company recognized for the true quality it had formerly
represented.
Life was born to the venture on January 4, 1984 when Pontiac Motor Division of General Motors awarded the franchise to Jay Stelzenmuller, III. A tremendous effort was made by the new partners to contact former trusted employees and to arrange for necessary services in order to open February 1, 1984. Due to hard work, long hours, and a lot of elbow grease from a number of people, the company opened ahead of schedule on January 17th, 1984.
This was the first venture , born out of a desire to put the words "quality, integrity, honesty, and value" back into the vocabulary of the automotive buying public. A company with a goal and a mission then and now.
The continued expansion and success of Jay Automotive Group has flourished over the last 15 years. In 1988 the GMC Truck franchise was purchased from Columbus Truck Sales and added to the Pontiac line. Jay Toyota was purchased in 1990 and Saturn of Columbus opened in 1991. Mitsubishi was purchased in June of 1993 and was combined with Mazda, which became a new addition in November 1995. Our most recent endeavor was the addition of Buick in December of 1996. This Franchise was combined with Pontiac-GMC.
